Today LS2 have been making the graph that shows our Read Theory Progress. We have shown the progress from 2017 and 2018. From the start of the year I started on grade 6. Currently I am at grade 8. This has been a big improvement.

This week we have been given a task list to do with our partner. We have to complete a task and blog it. We decided to choose the alphabet key because we have many knowledge on this. We had to write author's names or a book title.

Reading Journey

Today we have created a DLO on the books we loved reading during school. We have chosen six books to show our reading journey and a description of why we loved the book. I have chosen : The Very Hungry Caterpillar, I Spy, Tashi, Goosebumps, Captain Underpants and Tom Gates. When I was three my favorite book use to be The Very Hungry Caterpillar. But know my favorite book series is Tom Gates, a comedy and adventure book.

Summary:

This text talks about the nurses that were treated sick and injured in World War 1 soldiers. It also shared World War 1 Nurse Edna pengally’s story. It talks about what operations Edna was a part of, and how she felt during her working hours. Edna Pengelly was born on the 5th July 1874, and died on the 20th August 1959. It explains that patients would be treated in tents, Hospital ships, and even trains! There was a part of the text that explained shell shock, and it’s symptoms.  

This week for reading we have been learning about the WW1 nurses. We have read a text and found some vocabulary that we were unsure of, and made it into a short summary. Did you know that nurse's got the same attention as the soldiers?

Read An E Book Day

Today we were introduced to Read an E book. We could do this activity by using the Tamaki overdrive or using the website to find a book that you wanted to read or to listen to. I read a book called : Torrent this book is very interesting because it introduces different types of characters and has sudden things happening to them. #EBOOKLOVE

Read Theory

Today I did read theory I read a text called climbing K2. We had to read a text and it will give us questions and we have to answer them correctly. You progress through the game every time you get all the questions answered correctly. The reason we do read theory is because that it helps us with our reading, grows our knowledge, how to comprehend, and improves our vocabulary.

Things You Need In Your Car

I made a DLO about all things you should carry in your car just encase for a emergency. The most important thing would probably be the multi tool because you could use it to fix something thats wrong with your car. Also you should have a jumper cable encase if you car battery runs out.

Read Theory

Today I did read theory. I scored 66% and the book I was reading was Granny's apple. In the stroy it explains how you can use granny's apple to cook delicious things. Next time I could improve on reading the questions properly.

Current Events - Ivory ban in China

Today I have finished my current events. We had to read five articles that talked about why ivory is going to banned in China at the end of 2017. They are doing this because they are trying to kill the animals to get their ivory from the elephants and they could be endangered. We also had to give three opinions on why this is a good thing or a bad thing.

Today I have read a story called my name is Davy Lowston.This story is a real story and also a fake story because the author of this book tried to write what he thought was the point of view and the story is true because it really happened.The story is based around a people that was killing seals to get there skining and the ship never came back.

Today ngaurhoe group did word webs we had to find the definition, antonyms and Synonyms.We had to read a text called a robbers mask it was a narrative. And we had to write words on a document like slobbered and use the word webs to figure out if the definition.

How to make a non-polluting car

L:I To find the most important (main) idea of the text.

Today Me and Christopher made a DLO on a text called how to make a non-polluting car.By reading this text I learnt that making a Non-Polluting Car you are needed a Milk Carton, Cardboard or Plastic lids, Two Pencils with flat sides, Scissors, Rubber band, Ballpoint Pen, Compass, Hole Punch, and a thick cardboard.I was struggling on what kind of text it was.But I believed the text was a procedure and a persuasive.

L:I To find related words.Today Mataio and Myself did word webs.We Did More than we where suppose to do.We read how to make a non-polluting car.The words on this slide is the words that I personally do not know.Once we found the word we had to write synonym around the word We did not know.The hard thing was to do was finding trust able websites to find the definition of a synonym.
