Exponents ( Powers )

Today for math we have been focusing on exponents which is also known as powers. You can solve them very easily if you know your times table. For example if your writing 10² then you would write 10 x 10 = 100. But if it is a cubed question then you would write it like this 10³ 10 x 10 x 10.

Orchestra Trip

Today most of Ls2 were invited to the Auckland Dance Project at the Auckland Town Hall. We saw multiple instruments I have never hard of. Like Bassoon, Cello, Double Bass, Viola and a Tuba. There where different sections with different types of instruments. There was the Brass instruments, Woodwind, String and the percussion instruments.

Virtual Realality

Today we had Yvonne and her research team from the Augmented human lab at Auckland University come in to make our learning more creative. We where all split into three groups with our named labeled on the table. One group would use a VR while the other groups used Ipads. Each group learnt about the first Panmure Bridge, about what parts it was built out of and how it was built.

Sensory Verbs

In writing we have complete a test about sensory verbs. The test was very easy and thats why I got them all correct. Sensory verbs are what we use while you are talking. These are the examples of what they are : taste, hear, smell, touch, and see.

Character Book Review

For the last 3 weeks  Mrs Anderson's reading group has been doing book reviews on their books. A book review is when you read a book and you do a task. At the moment I've already completed my comic strip about the book. I have know moved onto creating a drawing on the setting the book took place on. Then I would create a movie trailer all about the book.

Ven Diagram

This term for inquiry w have been learning about structures. We have learnt about bridges, tunnels and towers. So we have decided to compare all three structures and put it into a ven diagram. We used three circles instead of two.

How to Tell Analogue Time

      Analogue Time

Have you ever wondered how to tell analogue time? Analogue time has 12 numbers there are 24 hours in a day. The 24 hours are halved in 2 periods of time. Am and pm remind you what time of the day it is.

There are also hands on an analogue clock, there are two hands, the big hand and the small hand, the big hand tells minutes and the small hand tells hours. The easy thing to remember about analogue time is that it is divided into 4 quarters. 12, 3, 6 and 9. The hour hand will go around the clock for 60 minutes until the next hour.

Now you should understand most things you need to know. All that is left is to teach you how to read the clock. When the small small hand is on the 5 and the long hand is on the 1, the time would be 5:05. And if the short hand was on the 6 and the long hand was on the 4, the time would be 6:20.

Now I hope you have learnt how to tell analog time, it is not too difficult to tell analog time and it is not too simple to learn it, analog time can make miracles happen, it can save you from being late on a special occasion and avoid you from many problems.
